Pojezierze Brodnickie

Zbiczno Commune

Pearl of the Lakeland: 30 lakes, forests covering over 40% of the area and Brodnicki Landscape Park. For the active and for those seeking peace and quiet.

About the municipality

Zbiczno is located in the heart of the Brodnica Lakeland, amid waters and greenery. Forests cover over 40% of the municipality's area. Of the 30 lakes, the largest are Bachotek, Ciche and Sosno, and the deepest (42 m) is Lake Zbiczno. 16 lakes are officially open for recreational fishing, and temporary fishing permits can also be purchased for municipal ponds.

Over 90% of the municipality's area is covered by various forms of nature protection. Most of it lies within the Brodnica Landscape Park, part is in a Natura 2000 site and in the Protected Landscape Area of the Drwęca River Basin. There are 7 nature reserves and numerous natural monuments — including the intertwined oaks “Adam and Eve” and a historic tree avenue in Rytychbłota. Wild orchids and water lilies grow here; beavers, otters and birds of prey live here.

Called the Pearl of the Lakeland, the municipality is one of the region's most important tourist and recreational centres: holiday resorts, hotels, campsites and agritourism farms.
